P-zero Rosso questions/problems

I have had the 235 40r17 p-zero Rosso tires for about 12,000 miles and the centers are nearly bald with a fair amount of tread on the outsides. I have about 41 psi in the front and 40 in the rear. When I had them installed I had an alignment. I sure wont buy them again if they only last 12,000 miles. Ouch.

41 PSI cold? Woah.

If you were running 41 PSI cold in your fronts no wonder you've
blown your centers out. They would have been bulging out once
warmed up - sounds like this is the case with such uneven wear.

Re: P-zero Rosso questions/problems

I have 225/40r17 Russo also. Same problem center worn out befor the edges. I run 40psi on the track and about 38psi on street. I have about 13k miles on them with about 1.5k miles of track time. I figure I have about 16k of real world driving, for a high performance tire not too bad. Even with the wear, they still grip well to street use. I had a passenger ask why my tires don't make noises when doing fast turns.

I would buy these tires again probably in the next few months as I hit the wear bars.

Re: 41 PSI cold? Woah.

41psi cold isn't bad at all if the tire's max pressure is 51psi. That's how my Dunlop SP9000's are on my GTI.

My wife and I just bought an S4 Avant, so we'll have plenty of time to evaluate the Y-rated Pirelli P6000's. Haven't checked optimal pressure for these tires yet, however.

Sounds like you guys run too much pressure. It's not the tires fault.

Air pressure too high.....37 psi is a good ref. pt.

17" tires...app. 37 psi cold...

Not to mention (at least for 16") the "spec" is 32psi. My old Audi says 28psi!

When it comes to autox, sure, they need to go up to keep from running on sidewalls. But for everyday running around, 40psi will beat your brains out! I tried it once. 36 psi on a tank of gas, and 28psi on another tank. I could tell a big difference in ride quality.
