Default Putty or rubbing compound?

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a rubbing compound or putty that you can work into a gouge in a wheel, sand, and then paint? I have some pretty good sized gouges in my wheel and they are too much to sand out, some of them are an eigth of an inch deep! I will probably end up buying another rim if there isn't such a thing.<p>Jake

The name of the product is called JB Weld. It's a putty that dries as hard as metal.
