Running Conti Extreme Contact DWS with Conti Extreme Contacts
I'm running Conti Extreme Contact 225/40ZR18s on my '03 TT Quattro. I'm in need of 2 new tires. The Extreme Contacts have been discontinued & replaced by Extreme Contact DWS (different tread design). Can I run the new DWS on the front & the older (plenty of tread left) Extreme Contacts on the rear? My dealership says yes. My Tire Rack guy says I need 4 new DWS. My local tire shop says they need to measure the tread depth of the older Extreme Contacts 1st. The Audi manual suggests that I need to have the same tread design on all 4 tires due to the Quattro configuration. I would hate to throw away 2 good tires. Any opinions?
