Default Snow Tire recommendation S8

Have got a new s8 with 21" wheels. I'm going to want to get snow tires here pretty soon. Any recommendations? I'm assuming I'm going to need to get "winter" wheels too so a wheel/tire recommendation.

Hartmann rims are reasonable and they have deals with Tire Rack to mount and balance them and send them to you. Also using Discount Tire dealers locally would be good. I would recommend going down to 19" rims as a more narrow tire will do better in snow and with pot holes as well as costing less.

Dunlop are my favorite snow tires and Blizzak are another brand others swear by.

My best advice is always the least expensive, most simplistic wheel that you can find. It used to be that a steel wheel was the automatic choice for people running winter tires. They were inexpensive, and hard to ruin, so they fit the bill nicely. Nowadays, with steel prices running high and the demands of today's high performance vehicles' handling and braking potential, alloys are a much more practical choice. Also, sometimes they are your only choice, as they offer more clearance for today's larger brakes. They don't rust, they clear large brakes, and they actually look decent on the car. However, they don't have to be expensive

^^ This is a straightforward and good solution.

I've used a lot of different brands of snow tires. We've had really good (recent) luck with the Continental snow tire on our A6. Great traction, good longevity and quiet.

I did have to get new tires for the A6 and fitted the Nokian WR G3 a couple of weeks ago. Supposed to be a good all-around tire.

S8 has 400 mm front rotors so 19" wheels would get very close to the front calipers, if they would clear them at all.

Easy enough to check what the alternate wheel is for the A8 in the country the car is in to see what Audi puts on for winter rims.

I spoke to Hartmann, and none of their 19 inch rims would fit the D4 A8 since they would not clear the calipers. How unfortunate.

I would try Audi 19x8.5 Turbine wheels. They are forged, so probably thinner walls, easy to find used and not expensive. Since they would be winter dedicated they don't have to be perfect.

I think the size of the brakes require that I use a 20" wheel. Am likely going with Nokian Hakkepalita 8's and a 20" wheel from Discount Tire near me. The tires are 260/per and wheels are 199 per.
