Default Whera are you? MD? Seeing as the temps there are still in the 70s, I'd say it's too early...

I'd wait until the temps drop into the 40s-50s.

That said, I used to run my Michelin Pilot Alpins in 70s-type weather, and it wasn't all that bad. They float more when cornering and generally wear out faster in warmer weather, so it's not adviseable to use them in those conditions, but if you're willing to live with that and are going to take it easy, then you should be OK.

It also depends on the particular winter tire. The more dry performance-oriented winter tires like Pilot Alpin or Dunlop M3 will fare higher temps somewhat better than heavy-duty winter tires like Bridgestone WS-50 or Nokian Hakka Q.

You're looking at about 20-25,000 miles on one of the newer snow tires for wear. It's best to wait till the temps are below 50F for the best life and handling. These are designed to operate in a lower range of temps and when it't in the 70F or higher range, they are going to feel very soft.

I used to swap whenever the low temp of the day got below 50F at least 2x per week.

Default It totally depends on the tire you're talking about.

Some would be ok, some would not.

Default You could select a high performance snow tire.

Nokian WR (some run them all year round)
Dunlop M3
Blizzak LM25

Those will do better in the dry than most other winter tires.
