SQ5 Winter Tire Temps

I purchased my 2018 SQ5 this month with the 21 inch summer tires (ST). This is my first Audi that doesn't have all-seasons (AS). Absolutely love the performance of the ST and I don't think I'll ever go back to AS. Currently, no tire company makes AS tires for my rim (255/40R-21inch). The only non-ST is the Perilli Scorpion Winter Tire (WT). I live in the DC area and our temperature dropped to 42 / 38 (hi/lo) degrees for one day. When the temps dropped, I paniced and had a set of Pirelli WT installed. Since then, our high temps vary from 62 degree some days and 42 other days and sometimes in the same week. Manufacture & dealer says at 45 degrees - install the WT. I've talked to some people and they don't install their WT until the 1st snow fall. My question to the group is ... what temps do you actually install your WT or do you wait until snow?

The "winter" rubber compound handles and wears best when temperatures are in the low 40's It's not disastrous if you have the occasional warm spell every now and then, as long as you remember the rubber will be softer at warmer temps and will handle differently.
