I need a new set of tires on my A4 with 17" wheels ; the dealership will put Michelin HX MXM4s on for $760 or so (which is cheaper than the tires themselves at tirerack, but I digress)
However, they have AWFUL ratings at tirerack.com -- can anyone provide any insight? I'm at 35,000 miles and the tires are pretty worn, FWIW.
Even better, suggest a 235/45-17 All Season tire for me? (H or greater speed rating, thanks)
Thanks everyone, as I've had not much time to learn about tires in the past -- though I'll certainly try now.

Because Michelin is free to price them any way they want...
Michelin prices tend to be on the high side. They charge a premium for the name. Performance-wise, they're not always the best.
Go back to Tirerack - they have rankings of tires in various performance categories. Pick a tire from the top of the list, the one that meets your needs (handling, comfort, wear... whatever is important to you).
