Two sets of tires - RUINED!!!
Help
This is the 2nd set of tires that have been ruined. I've got a B5 chassis A4, running 17 x 7, 45mm offset TSW's and the inner edge of the tire is too close to the chassis and has been rubbing. I'm guessing it rubs as I drive over bumps and dips on the interstate b/c I can't see or hear anything during normal city driving.
I've got a great deal on a set of B6 5-spoke wheels, size 17 x 7 1/2, 45mm offset that I plan on putting on. I've seen pics of other B5's with the same wheels, so I know it's possible, but I don't know what size spacer to use. Is running a 10mm spacer equivalent to a wheel with 35mm offset? Any recommendations on running spacers? I've done some rough calculations, and it seems like I can run a 20mm spacer which would put the outside face of the wheel flush with the wheel well opening. This would be very close to running a 17 x 8.5 wheel with 35mm offset. Is this right? I've searched, and I haven't found anyone running a spacer this big.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
