Will Ecsta V700's 205/45-16 fit ok on 16x6 stock wheels? (Protege5)
they are the only size choice in a racing tire that has the same circumference as the stock SP5000's. Of course they are 10mm wider than stock so grip and treadlife are helped :} I am not getting wider wheels because I want to race in stock class this year.

The spec sheet says you need at least 6.5" rim width -->

why do the 225's require 6-8 but the 205's 6.5-7.5? Makes no sense
|
you have to take sidewall height into account ....
If you're looking at the 225/50, then their sidewalls are 112.5mm, whereas in case of your 205/45, the sidewall is only 92.25mm.
The bigger the sidewall, the more it can flex and therefore it can stretch over a wider range of rim widths. With a 205/45 tire, there isn't much to stretch. |
Not on the 6" wheels, no. (m)
Rim Width Range...... 6.50 to 7.50
Measure Rim Width.... 7.00 Also R compound tires with the more agressive dimensions & much stiffer sidewall also present more mounting difficulty, so trying to stretch them too much inward, ESPECIALLY for a track tire coudl lead to a de-beading of the tire or failure of it, which could be less than ideal ON track :) Will need to look at perhaps an inexpensive track wheel for the 5, sorry! Call me if I can help!<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=index.jsp">http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=index.jsp</a</li></ul> |
