Default Winter Tires for 2017-18 Audi RS3 Staggered Wheels

Hello everyone,

I've searched and searched on the forums and have not gotten a concrete answer to my question. Audi is the only company to put reverse staggered wheels onto a car, but I digress.

I'm looking to replace the summer tires on the stock staggered wheels with either winter tires or all season tires. The stock tires are 255/30 ZR19 fronts and 235/35 ZR19 in the rears. I would prefer a square setup and was wondering if I can put 235/35 R19 tires all around? Would the front look sunken in due to the wider wheels? Should I go 245/35 R19 tires all around?

Thanks!

In most cases you would run what you have for your front tire size all the way around. As far as staggered setup on an awd car......both BMW and Mercedes had them as factory offerings. I had staggered on both my 535xi and my E550 4matic. It does look good but with no way to rotate tires it gets expensive because of shortened tire life. We have crappy icy, snow filled long winters in Maine.......the tire of choice is Nokian Hakkepellita R2; second choice Blizzak WS80. You will not regret having a dedicated winter setup, I do it on all my cars.......why WOULDNT you put a thousand dollar tire set up on your 80k car? It protects YOU and your family but also your investment in that car,

WE are recommended running the 235/35R19 on all four corners to maximize traction.

So I got the recommended square set up of 235/35R19's. After I got them installed the installer told me that it's too bad that they can't be rotated because of the staggered wheels??? I thought by going the square tire setup, I would be able to rotate the wheels? I don't see why the wider front wheels won't fit in the rears? Please clarify because now I'm confused.

Thanks!

The front wheels are 8.5" wide and the rears are 8" wide. Did the installer check for fitment, or did they just assume that 8.5" would not work on the back axle ? Should not be a problem

I believe they are just assuming that it wouldn't fit. That is why I came to you guys here on the forum to double check. Thanks for verifying!

I just myself a new 2019 RS3. Did you replace the larger wheels and tires up front with the 235/35/29 (same as the back)?? Also what tires did you finish up putting all the way round.Thank you.

I am confused. I assumend that going to a square set-up simply ment you bought two additional rear "wheels" and mounted the 235/35/19 tires them, the same as those you mounted on the rear wheels. I correct??
