Practically anyone can replace the cabin air filter in the Audi A4 B8. The procedure is so easy, in fact, you won't ever consider taking your Audi back to the dealership for such a simple repair again. And at a low cost of approx. $25 (or less), why would you ever consider throwing your hard-earned dollars away on exorbitant labor and padded parts costs? The answer is, you shouldn't! So how will you know when is the correct time to replace an old cabin air filter? The correct answer is when you reach around 20,000 to 30,000 miles, or exactly one year.

If you begin smelling a chemical-like odor when you run your air conditioning after it's been dormant for some time, don't panic. This smell is normal and is often just the result of condensation sitting in the system. Other culprits could be a clogged air conditioning drain, however. If you find the odor especially problematic, your local dealer can apply a special solution to your air conditioning system to eliminate it. Changing your air filter could help if the issue is related to your filter (e.g., dust build up, trapped dirt, etc.).
