A burned out parking light is especially noticeable when you activate your turn signals. This article will explain how to replace the parking lights on the Audi A4 B8.

This article applies to the Audi A4 B8 (2005-2015).

The parking light is the yellow light on the corner of your headlights. They double as turn signal lights and sometimes as daytime running lights. Parking lights help people see that the car is on when it's parked. They are mostly intended for night time use in parking lots and streets where it can be hard for pedestrians to see. Changing the parking light bulb is similar to changing the headlight bulb, but it is a little harder to access. Be aware that some newer model A4s with the redesigned headlights use LED bulbs instead of halogen bulbs. The LEDs are welded into the headlight assembly itself and can't be replaced by themselves.

Materials Needed

  • Replacement parking light bulb(s)
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • T30 Torx screwdriver
  • Long needle-nose pliers
  • Masking tape (optional)

Step 1 – Remove the headlight assembly

The parking lights are located on the very outer corner of the headlight assembly. It will be difficult to remove the light without first removing the headlight assembly from the car, but if you think you can do it, feel free to skip this step.

Open the hood and remove the screws along the panel on top of the grille and headlights. Remove the panel. Remove the two Torx screws on the top of the headlight assembly and two more screws at the bottom behind the headlight assembly. Carefully wiggle the headlight assembly towards you until it comes loose from the car. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Pro Tip

If you're worried about scratching the car, put masking tape around the headlight assembly. This will prevent any minor scratches as you remove the headlight.

Step 2 – Replace parking light bulb

Push in the tabs on the back cover of the headlight assembly and pull the cover off. Reach into the back of the headlight assembly and feel along the sides for the parking light bulb socket. Twist the socket counter clockwise and pull it out of the headlight assembly. Pull the old parking light bulb out. Then, insert the replacement bulb. Carefully return the bulb and socket to the headlight. Twist the socket clockwise to lock it into place.

Return the back cover to the headlight assembly. Then, return the headlight assembly to the car. Plug in the electrical connector. Now is a good time to test the replacement bulb. Turn on the parking lights and make sure the new bulb is working. If it works, then tighten down the headlight assembly and return the top panel to the grille.
