This article applies to the Audi A6 C5 (1998-2004).

The benefits of High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting are well known by most automotive enthusiasts – they are two to three times brighter than halogens, provide a cool white glow that looks great, and it takes less power to run them. While HID lights have largely been replaced as the trendy ones to put on new cars by LED lighting, they offer many of the same benefits but at a much lower cost. And that, coupled with their superior brightness (at least for now) is why HID conversions remain popular on older, halogen-equipped cars. If you want to add some serious power to your headlights, here's how to get it done.
