Audi A6 C6: How to Replace Fuel Pressure Sensor

There are a few ways to tell if your fuel pressure sensor has gone bad in your Audi A6 C6. One of the ways is when your car shuts down as you step on the gas pedal hard, but the easier way is reading the engine trouble code. Using a scanner to diagnose your vehicle can lead you right to the problem. A dealership would charge you a lot of money to replace a simple sensor, but this guide is here to save you some money. Read on to learn how you can replace the fuel pressure sensor on your Audi A6 C6.
Materials Needed
- Wrench
- High pressure fuel sensor
- Low pressure fuel sensor
Step 1 – Disconnect battery
Disconnect the negative (black) battery terminal using your wrench. Wrap it in a towel to avoid touching any metal.
Step 2 – Replace high pressure sensor
Your last attempt before having to replace the fuel pump is to replace the high and low fuel pressure sensors. Start with the high pressure fuel sensor. The high pressure fuel sensor is located on the right side of the engine, on the passenger side. Simply pull it out while squeezing its plastic tab, then install the new one.
Step 3 – Replace low pressure sensor
You can either replace both sensors or you can plug the battery after replacing the high pressure fuel sensor, then reading the to see if the code is gone. Locate the low pressure fuel sensor, which is located on the left side of the engine, on the driver side closer to the front of the car. Use a wrench to remove it, then install the new one in place. Connect the battery's negative terminal.
