Design updates here and there

At first glance, the newest version of the RS 4 probably won’t look too different. but you'd be wrong That’s because most of its design changes appear only on the front of the car. There’s less chrome this time around, to give it more of a “racecar” look if you will. The design team lowered the car’s grill and made it slightly wider. They also separated it from the hood and placed a thin air vent in between, an approach drawn from the car’s Quattro coupe brethren. Additional tweaks were made to the car’s air vents and headlights too.

Improved interior

Go inside the car and you’ll instantly see many updates were made to the all-new RS 4 Avant. For one, there’s a new infotainment system, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen which is similar to the touch response technology found in Audi’s A6 and Q8 models. The design team also added some RS-specific flare to the car’s cabin, to give it more of a unique feel when compared to the A4 and S4 models.

Why change a good thing?

Audi elected to not update the car’s engine this time around. So, power for the vehicle still comes from the same 2.9-liter, turbocharged V6 engine that can churn out some 450 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Per this impressive torque stat, this is available starting at 1,900 rpm and extending on up to 5,000 rpm. Everything is tied to an 8-speed automatic transmission that can get the car going from 0 to 62MPH in just 4.1 seconds.

How much will the RS 4 Avant set you back?

Well, for one, the car won’t be available in the United States. But, if you are reading this outside the States, then do note that the RS 4 Avant is already on sale in some European countries, with prices starting at $81,400 euros (approximately $90k USD).

Updates from the Audi Sport front

News of the RS 4 Avant follows Audi’s announcement of its 4th-generation RS 6 Avant, as well as the 2nd-generation RS 7 (Sportback), and two versions of the RS Q3, the latter of which will not be making their way to the States either. Earlier in the year, Audi Sport said that the division will be delivering six new cars in 2019; this leaves us waiting for one more car announcement. Industry experts anticipate it’ll be the new RS Q8 model.
