5 Noteworthy Audi Owners and Enthusiasts

There are more noteworthy people who love Audi than just celebrities. Here are the stories of several Audi enthusiasts that deserve to be known.

1. Keith Harris and his Lost Audi

A great thing about the internet is that it allows everyone to share in the magic of small miracles like this. In 1987, a man named Keith Harris bought an Audi GT Coupe Fuel Injection. Unfortunately, he had to sell the Audi half a year later after a car accident made his insurance too expensive to keep up with. Fast forward almost 30 years to 2016. A 49-year-old Keith Harris is now an established car lover, and is searching on eBay for potential vintage finds. Lo and behold, he inadvertently stumbled upon his old Audi for sale. Stranger still, the way he was able to identify it had been his was from the dent he had caused from the accident decades prior. While the collision originally resulted in losing the car, there's a poetic irony that it left him the hints to get it back. The rest, as they say, is history. Harris bought the car in its dilapidated state and proceeded to fix it up as it well-deserved. There's a certain beauty in this story. As it happens, second chances are possible.

2. Garrett and Jeremy from the Audi dealership in Naples, Florida

This was a story promoted by an Audi dealership themselves, specifically the one serving Naples, Florida. It involves two brothers, Garrett and Jeremy. Garrett was an established member of the dealership's team. His younger brother Jeremy has Downs' Syndrome, and is every bit as passionate about Audi cars as anyone you'll meet. Garrett and the rest of the dealership team wanted to do something nice for Jeremy, so they made him his own special Audi shirt to wear. Better still, he's welcome to come to the dealership and scope out the latest models whenever he wants.

3. Stacey Perdue

Some might say that superfans aren't made; they're born. According to Audi superfan Stacey Perdue, she always had a fascination with cars going back as far as she could remember, but became obsessed after passing her driver's test as a teenager. She's now become a fairly well-known figure in the UK car modding scene. Her Audi A3 2.0 TFSI S-line has been modded extensively to fit her vision, and she makes a regular habit of showing it off to the rest of the world at shows. In addition to purely aesthetic changes such as a black edition grille, she's amplified the power of her A3 from its default 200bhp to nearly 300bhp. The amount of work and resources Stacey has invested in one car is a testament to how seriously she takes the Audi name. With a Mad Cow UK car modder sponsorship, it's apparent that Ms. Perdue has a luminous future with cars ahead of her.

4. Kermit the Frog

No, really. Didn't you know that Muppets could have a taste for German engineering, too? With the short-lived return of the Muppet Show in 2015, Jim Henson's beloved characters made a comeback in more ways than one, including the advertising world. Alongside NBC's Community star Joel McHale, Kermit was part of a skit that begins with a fight with Ms. Piggy in a restaurant. A despondent Kermit goes outside bemoaning that it's "not easy being green." That's where the Audi punchline comes in. According to the ad, of course, it actually is easy being green, especially with the Audi A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid. We love it when advertising manages to reach beyond typical expectations into something fresh and entertaining.

5. Dwight Knowlton

Dwight Knowlton is a car lover, artist, and children's author. He's also the proud owner of a slick Audi TT roadster. His book The Little Red Racing Car involves typical child lit themes like family and adventure, but it's all tied down to a real-world love for automobiles. With so much of his life's work being based around the concept of cars, it's not surprising that Knowlton would have chosen an Audi for his own wheels. As a designer himself, Knowlton believes that the Audi TT will come to be seen as an iconic example of 1990s cars.
