ABT R8 V10 Plus Adds a Few Degrees of Sinister

Wanting More

For most mortal humans, Audi's R8 V10 Plus is all the supercar they'll ever need. But as always, there are plenty of us who want more. And when it comes to ABT's version of Audi's finest machine, you get a little more of everything.

Facial Makeover

It all starts, of course, on the outside. ABT gives the R8 a much more aggressive look with what is essentially a full body kit. Up front, that means a new skirt and lip for a facial makeover.

Special Insides

Inside, ABT gives the R8 a host of upgrades including plenty of leather and carbon fiber bits, ABT floor mats, and special entrance lighting. To, you know, make you feel special.

Pure Aggression

Other enhanced styling cues include wheel arch vents, carbon side blades, a "bladed" rear skirt, and optional carbon fiber mirrors. These few parts add up to a major overall effect on the R8's styling, making it much more aggressive.

Drop It Down

Of course, ABT wasn't about to just throw a body kit on the R8 and call it a day. They also added coilovers with sports stabilizers at all four corners, which they say helps lower the center of gravity and vastly improve handling.

More Power

The ABT R8 also receives a slight boost in power thanks to a stainless steel exhaust system that exits through carbon tips. ABT says that this upgrade alone adds 20 hp, bringing the car's total up to 630 ponies.

Shedding Weight

Customers can also have their choice of 19 or 20-inch forged alloys, which are black no matter what size you go with. With these and other upgrades, ABT claims their version of the R8 weights 110 pounds less than the stock one.

Dramatic Effect

These rather subtle changes actually make quite the difference in this case. The ABT R8 looks far more exotic than the standard car, almost like a factory-built special edition.

Balanced Upgrades

While we'd love to see more of a power boost, ABT didn't want to mess with things too much. In their words, they wanted to coax out a little more performance "without jeopardizing its durability."

Well Rounded

Thus, unlike many tuner cars we come across, the ABT R8 is a nicely balanced ride that provides improvements in all areas. It handles, goes, looks, and stops better than stock. And isn't that the ultimate goal of tuning, after all?
