Step Change

EVs are coming, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. In fact, they are generally faster than internal combustion engine cars. And as supporting technology such as battery life and charging speed develop, EVs will be just as practical as well. Audi understands this and has embraced the idea, moving full-speed ahead towards an electric future. The PB18 e-tron concept car embodies that philosophy.

But Will it be Good?

Allan McNish—a famous touring car driver—has got behind the project and expressed his excitement in what it means for the future. The entire ethos behind the PB18 is to create driver excitement and thrills. It’s a big goal for an EV, but if there’s anyone who can deliver it’s Audi.

Single Seater Slider

This car can become a single seater racing car. No joke. Push a button on the steering wheel and the entire driver seat slides to a center position. By sliding to the side you can utilize cargo space for everyday practicality. It’s a truly innovative idea from the designers at Audi.

Power Output

With a 670-horsepower motor output, as well as the available 95 HP with boost, the electric supercar is said have a 0-60 time of only 2 seconds. Weight comes in at 3,400lbs which puts it in the same stomping grounds as the Huracan or newer Z06s. The instantaneous torque delivery of 612 lb-ft will have a Hellcat going home with its tail between its legs.

Exterior Thoughts

Designed in Malibu, CA, the exterior is visually striking with a futuristic look that is fundamentally Audi. Parts of the design look contemporary as well which makes it easy to imagine a car like this sitting in your garage. Something tells me that’s exactly what Audi wanted people to think of when they saw this concept. We can only hope that we can have more EVs like this one in the coming years.
