1. Concept

The final production version of the 2019 Audi Q8 has not show its exterior styling yet, however, Audi has shown a Q8 concept at the North American International Auto Show which looks very close to produtcion ready. The concept is much bigger and roomier  than any current vehicle on the Audi lineup, with limo-like room for rear passengers. The Q8 is set to share a platform with the 2017 Q7, and it is built to compete with large, stylish, fastback roofline SUVs like the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE "coupe".

2. Forward Looking Design

Unlike the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe, the Q8 will have more head-room in the rear seats though still feature a more stylish shape than the Q7. Audi choose interior head room and cargo space, with a roofline that is more upright without the dramatic arc seen on the other German competitors. The body has a lot of sporty looking features, like the very large and wide grille, which is the new face of Audi, as seen on the new A8 models that are set for production. The entire body is expected to be low and wide, thanks to the flared fenders. Finally, there are talks that the 2019 Q8 will be equipped with Audi's Matrix laser headlights, however, as of now the United States Government hasn't approved the technology.

3. Exclusive Interior

Based on the Audi Q8 concept, the luxury-SUV seats four people in the lap of luxury, but the production version may include room for five. Expect the Q8 to have nothing short of an amazing interior, at least as luxurious as that of the long wheelbase A8. The Q8 concepts featured two screens in the center console, as well as one in front of the driver, which should be a virtual instrument display that would replace the analog gauges. If the Q8 has learned anything from the A8, then expect it to come with Audi's Al Traffic Jam Pilot, a feature that takes over the steering wheel, brakes, and accelerator in traffic. Finally, all the screens will probably be controlled by Audi's touchpad controller, as well as an advanced version of voice recognition.

4. Engine and Performance

When Audi debuted the Q8 concept, it was as an E-tron plug-in hybrid, equipped with a twin-turbo V6 and electric motor that delivers 443-horsepower. The Audi Q8 sport will likely come with a bit more power, and may even deploy lag-free electric turbochargers, with something like 469-horsepower. These seem to be the most likely engine options to be offered with the Q8, but Audi could always surprise us. You can expect there to be higher performing SQ8 and RSQ8 variations as well, possibly with twin turbo V8 power and over 500hp.

5. Price and Release Date

With the Audi Q7 starting at $49,000, expect to pay about $10,000 more for the Q8. The BMW X6 is priced at $62,000, the Mercedes GLE is priced at $70,500, and the Porsche Cayenne comes with the price tag of $60,600. Based on what we think the Audi Q8 will be, style, feature, and power-wise, it may just be the best deal in its market segment. There is no specific date announced yet when the Audi Q8 may be seen at dealerships, however, we expect the production version to be seen at auto shows possibly before the end of the year.
