Change of Plans

Like many project cars out there in the world, this Audi B3 coupe was a total disaster when its owner - Dominik Pokoj - purchased it five years ago. Pokoj originally planned on restoring the classic coupe, as these cars are quite literally in high demand these days. But inevitably, he chose to go a completely different route, customizing the car to the hilt and coming out with one of the coolest B3s we've ever seen, which also landed it a feature over at Fast Car.

Starting Young

What's even more impressive is the fact that Pokoj was just 19 years old when he began customizing this coupe five years ago. "The car was in really bad shape when I bought it," he told Fast Car. "It wasn't legal to use on the road, it had so many faults and defects. And a lot of rust and dents too! Quite simply, there is no more beautiful vehicle that reflects the Coupe shape. The history of the older Audi models is indescribable."

Total Transformation

Instead of simply returning the car to its original glory, Pokoj went crazy by first fixing up the bodywork and applying a custom Audi livery. A TA Technix air ride setup with Air Lift management hunkers the coupe down right on top of its BBS wheels when needed, which frame a set of Girling 60 brakes.

Upscale Racer

That race car theme continues with a host of hardcore parts including a full roll cage, Recaro racing buckets with harnesses, a fuel cell, and a dual x-brace in the rear. However, the interior certainly isn't totally spartan, as it's also flush with carbon fiber bits and Alcantara for a more upscale look and feel.

Powerplant Masterpiece

Most consider the B3's original 2.3-liter 20-valve five-cylinder powerplant to be a masterpiece, so Pokoj simply decided to get it running properly without messing too much with perfection. The torquey motor is backed up by the original five-speed manual as well, as it should be.

Alternative Dreams

Ultimately, Pokoj is rather happy with the way his amazing Audi B3 turned out, but as is usually the case, he's also got an eye for something else. "It drives so well now - the engine has had so many new parts installed and it runs like a dream," he said. "If there was one thing I'd change with the car though, perhaps I'd go back in time and buy a Quattro version instead. Maybe I should sell this one and buy an S2…"
