What Is It?

The 2020 Audi E-tron is "supposedly" going to be an executive, all-electric, four-door GT. It will be a sort of Tesla Model S kind of saloon. Audi has not given any specifics as to how much power the E-Tron will make or its range yet but one can guess that it will easily crack 250 miles on a single charge.

Will It Stand Alone?

The GT will be but a model in the "E-Tron" range in which other variants such as SUVs and performance vehicles will also be placed. We have already seen the Audi E-Tron crossover multiple times and will share the same technology with its GT saloon brother. Audi has claimed that the E-Tron GT will be part of a 20-model lineup by 2025.

What About the Audi Sport Division?

Audi is currently in the process of expanding its hybrid and electric systems to all of the current models and the performance names such as R8 and the RS's. Many other manufacturers are going to hybridization to help improve performance and Audi is no stranger to that idea. With Audi's experience and pedigree with its Le Mans cars, it's no surprise that they will implement that technology into its road cars. Audi's chairman, Rupert Stadler, has been quoted saying, "We interpret sportiness very progressively with our fully electric E-Tron GT, and this is how we will take our high-performance brand Audi Sport into the future." So in other words, expect plenty of batteries to be making it into S-Line, RS, and the R8 models into the future.

What Can We Expect From Audi by 2025?

Besides having 20 models in its "E-Tron" lineup, Audi has stated that they are developing technology with Porsche. Seeing as Porsche has just debuted its Mission-E model wagon at Geneva this year, we can expect the same type of technology to be carried into Audis models. The marriage between Porsche and Audi to make these new EV vehicles has been a colossal investment. Some say it's in the 9-digit price area. Audi has determined that one-third of its sales will be from electric vehicles--money well spent!

What Will Be the First E-Tron Variant?

The E-Tron Crossover will make its official debut in 2019 and will be set for production shortly after. Audi has claimed that it will cost around 80,000 Euros and will be able to charge 150kW worth of battery in 30 minutes. The E-Tron Crossover is set to be built in Brussels, Belgium.
