Evolution

For whatever reason, most automakers feel like all-electric vehicles have to look a certain way - funky and unique, and nothing like a traditional ICE-powered vehicle. Quite a few people don't agree with this sentiment, and thankfully, that includes Audi. The German automaker is cranking out some truly beautiful EVs these days, including the e-tron GT, which represents the next evolutionary stage in Audi's design language.

Form and Function

As is the case with all of Audi's models, the e-tron GT features a design that embraces both form and function, with flowing body lines that serve as the starting point for the automaker's future EVs. But while it certainly looks great, the e-tron GT also features a drag coefficient of just 0.24, which reduces energy consumption on long-distance journeys, in particular.

Considerable Size

Like Audi’s current full-size models, the e-tron GT takes up considerable space with a wheelbase of 2.90 m (9.5 ft), with a length of 4.99 m (16.4 ft). The four-door coupé is 1.96 m (6.4 ft) wide and just 1.41 m (4.6 ft) high, and its wheels have a diameter of between 19 and 21 inches. The track width is 1.69 m (5.5 ft) at the front and 1.66 m (5.4 ft) at the rear.

More Space

Unlike Audi's ICE-powered vehicles, however, the e-tron GT offers a number of packaging benefits that stem from the simplified design of EVs. There's more room for rear passengers, for example, thanks to what Audi calls a "foot garage" that allows them to sit lower in the vehicle and enjoy more head room. Cargo space is generous as well at 405 liters (14.3 cu ft), while the frunk offers an additional 81 liters (2.9 cu ft) of space.

Purposeful Design

Up front, the e-tron GT features a low-wide grille with an inverted color scheme, a radiator grille with a classic honeycomb pattern available in light hekla gray or body color, while the "mask" is finished in Manhattan gray, which frames the sculptured three-dimensional grille and the lateral air inlets. The driver enjoys a great view over the flat front end and curvy fenders, to boot.

Side View

Down the side, the e-tron GT features an elongated hood and flat windshield transitioning into a quickly sloping roofline, while the graphics of the side windows are drawn upward in a wedge shape. The greenhouse extends low and taut over the body, which is 17 millimeters (0.1 in) lower than on the Audi A7 Sportback. It is drawn in sharply toward the rear – the gently inclined C-pillars flow into the shoulders of the body. The long, flat rear window ends in a black zone that holds a number of the vehicle antennas.

Colors and Packages

These beautiful lines can be adorned with one of nine different colors - ibis white, Ascari blue, Daytona gray, floret silver, Kemora gray, mythos black, Suzuka gray, tactical green, and tango red. The Audi exclusive program from Audi Sport GmbH offers customized paint finishes as well. Additionally, two variants of the black styling package are available, and there are quite a few carbon fiber pieces available. Add it all up, and you've got one of the most beautiful EVs on the road today, without a doubt.
