Showing love to our Aussie brethren

Audi R8s are special vehicles that inspire lust, adoration, and excitement. So what happens when Audi decides to put out a version of the R8 that is so limited that only 10 models will be made? Based on the V10 Plus coupe, the new variant titled the Neuburg Edition is named after the town where Audi Sport headquarters is located. What's even more special is that Audi has built these cars to exclusively go to Australia.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Developed specifically for the Aussie market, the Neuburg Edition will make 449 kW and 560 Nm coming from a 5.2-liter V10 engine. If you're re-reading that sentence trying to figure out what has changed about the power numbers then let me break the news by saying those numbers are unchanged from stock. The car will come with a seven-speed S Tronic automatic transmission with all-wheel-drive to make putting that power down all the easier.

So what do you get?

The special edition comes with unique bits like gloss carbon fiber engine covers, matching side mirror caps, and a high-gloss titanium black exterior trim pack. Those changes get paired up with LED laser headlights and 20-inch black Anthracite wheels. On the interior, there will be black Nappa leather with red diamond stitching. The headliner is beautifully done up in a two-tone scheme of red and black Alcantara that compliments the rest of the cabin. Alcantara is also found on the chunky yet light steering wheel and gear shifter knob. To reinforce the fact that this is a supercar there is also a smattering of carbon fiber about the interior as well. To cap things off, a numbered sill plate that illuminates will tell customers how they fit into this group of just 10 buyers.

The bits to brag about

Paint choices will be limited to just three metallic colors ranging from Tango Red, Mythos Black, to Suzuka Grey, or Daytona Grey with a pearlescent finish. To get one for yourself you'll need $402,500 excluding on-roads. At that price point, the Neuburg Edition is actually $500 less in than a regular R8 V10 Plus. R8 Neuburg Edition customers will also get an exclusive bespoke set of Bang and Olufsen H6 headphones that are adorned with R8 badging in addition to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 that comes packed with a photo gallery of images shot by Australian motoring photographer Chris Benny. In that Galaxy Tab S2, there is also the first locally produced 360-degree video of the R8 going all out at Victoria's Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Can you have the car delivered at the Sport HQ?

As mentioned before, there will only be 10 of these made, so if you are interested then I advise quick movement and a call to a broker! Also, to set the mood for a possible trip to Australia, let me go ahead and set some mood music while you peruse flight prices.
