Definitely Not Dull

Matte paint jobs and wraps are all the rage these days, giving modern cars an even more modern look that's also quite stealthy in nature. The matte treatment also looks pretty fantastic on the entirety of Audi's entire lineup, in our humble opinion, and seems right at home adorning the flanks of this wicked RS5 that was recently featured in Fast Car.

Building Upon

In stock form, the RS5 is already a wicked machine thanks to its killer looks and turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 that cranks out 444 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. But the owner of this particular RS5 - Aaron McMahon - wanted more. Like many of us, McMahon has been modifying cars since he was old enough to drive, and stock is simply never good enough.

Worth the Wait

Regardless, this was McMahon's first Audi, but it drew him in the same way it did most of us. "There'd been another few cars on my mind, like an F80 M3, but after seeing the B9 RS5 I just fell in love with the shape," McMahon explained to Fast Car. "I started inquiring at the local Audi garage - Belfast Audi - and, after deciding on the full spec I wanted, I placed the order. I'll be honest, it was the longest wait of my life - but it was well worth it."

Change of Plans

McMahon went heavy-handed in terms of options, opting for Dynamic Ride Control, as well as all the interior and exterior carbon-fiber trim. He initially planned on going light with modifications, but once Plush Automotive approached him with the idea of using his car as a testbed for a new air ride suspension, that all went out the window.

Mission Continues

It took around five months for the suspension to be completed, but then McMahon continued his mission to transform his stock RS5. That vision included adding a set of 21-inch Rotiform OZT three-piece wheels, which have new barrels and hardware courtesy of Wheel Unique, along with a custom valved cat-back exhaust to uncork some extra sound from the V6.

Visual Upgrades

On the outside, McMahon added a slew of upgrades including a carbon fiber grille, ducktail spoiler, rear diffuser extensions, side extensions with spats, and a front splitter. Matrix LED headlights were de-chromed and fitted with interchangeable demon eyes and DRLs. Finally, the 3M Matte Military Green was the finishing touch that really ties it all together.

Head Turner

The result of McMahon's vision is one of the most unique RS5s we've ever seen, and he reports that the car turns heads wherever it goes, unsurprisingly, proving once again that the right mods can improve a car's visual appeal - even if it's as good as the RS5, to begin with.
