MTM 700HP RS6 Wagon Embarrasses Italian Sports Cars

Slideshow: The Audi RS6 is a really fast car from the factory. However, that doesn't mean it can't become even faster and presumably better. MTM has made some very nice upgrades on this already sporty car.

A really fast Audi RS6 Avant

The German car tuning company MTM, specializing in tuning Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Bentley, has transformed the Audi RS6 Avant into a true supercar killer. MTM has done this by overhauling practically the entire car, which included upgrades to the engine, exhaust, brakes, and the wheels. The MTM Audi RS6 fits the description "when a lot is not enough."

The engine

The stock engine has an impressive 560 horsepowers and 516 lb/ft of torque coming from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. But there is even more power to be gained from this power unit. In MTM's version, the power output is increased to 722 HP and 649 lb-ft of torque. This power increase is achieved with a pair of IHI twin-scroll turbochargers with a maximum boost of 33.4 psi (2.3 bar). The engine is controlled by MTM's Cantronic ECU to remap fuel, ignition, valve timing, and turbo boost.

Wheels and brakes

They also use their proprietary 10x21 inch alloy rims that are much lighter than the optional 21-inch rims from Audi. The wheels have a nine-spoke design allowing plenty of air to cool the massive Brembo brakes. They are wrapped with 295/30ZR21 Michelin Pilot Supersport tires providing plenty of grip. The front brakes are the biggest brakes MTM supply and measure 16x1.4 inches, compared to the stock 15.4 inches, and are equipped with six-pot calipers.

Suitable for both road and track

The current C7 Audi RS6 is only produced in Avant form and with all-wheel drive. This, in combination with MTM's upgrades, provides a spacious car with supercar performance. The Audi A6 RS from MTM is easy to drive around town for everyday use but immediately transforms into a real monster whenever the throttle is put to the floor. Despite the weight, the car accelerates from standstill to 62 mph (100 Km/h) in only 3.4 seconds and to 124 mph (200 Km/h) in 11 seconds. During tests, the car has also been pushed past 200 mph on Italian race track Nardo's renowned super-loop.

A supercar amongst supercars

The MTM Audi RS6 has been recorded at an impressive top speed of 211 mph (340 Km/h) making it faster than the likes of the Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren 650S, and Porsche 911 Turbo S. The top speed and the acceleration position this Audi RS6 in supercar territory in terms of performance, while maintaining its appearance as a family station wagon.
