Latest EV

With the world kicking into high gear in terms of electric vehicle adoption, automakers are scrambling to develop as many EVs as possible. That includes Audi, which like its brand-mate Volkswagen, is in the midst of a major EV push. The latest fruit of those efforts is the Q4 e-Tron, a crossover that Audi recently teased ahead of its official reveal in April.

Shared Platform

The Q4 e-Tron is the first Audi to ride on Volkswagen's MEB platform, a universal piece of kit that will eventually underpin a wide variety of vehicles not only from VW Group - but also other automotive manufacturers like Ford, which recently partnered with VW. And that gives it a host of benefits.

Efficient Packaging

Audi says the Q4 e-Tron is around the same size as the Q3 on the outside but has the interior space of the Q5 and the quality of the Q7. All of this packaging is possible thanks to the MEB platform, but also the fact that Audi doesn't have a traditional drivetrain and gas tank taking up space in places where they normally do in ICE-powered vehicles.

Traditional Cabin

Inside, the Q4 e-tron looks very much like a current Audi product, with multiple screens and a more traditional look ripe with buttons compared to other EVs on the market today. It's also available with an optional augmented-reality heads-up display, which places pertinent information directly in the driver's field of view.

Competitive Numbers

Audi isn't talking performance and range yet, but did say that the Q4 e-Tron will be offered in both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations, while other similar models on the MEB platform offer up to 300 miles of range, which makes it competitive with other EV crossovers on the market currently.

Coming Soon

We won't have to wait much longer to learn all the details of the Q4 e-Tron, however, as we're just a few weeks away from its official unveiling. Then, we'll know just how competitive the new crossover will be in what is quickly becoming one of the hottest automotive segments in existence.
