Paying Homage

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary Quattro brand, Audi has created this drool-worthy RS6 GTO concept to tease us with! The concept car pays tribute to the memorable Audi 90 Quattro GTO IMSA race car from the 1980s, wearing the same colors as the IMSA car's famous livery.

Dominant Contender

When the Trans-AM racing series banned Audi's capable all-wheel-drive system, the team switched to IMSA to continue to race its successful 90 Quattro race car in 1989. They had a dominant season and nearly won the constructor's championship despite not competing in every race.

RS6 Avant

The RS6 GTO proudly displays its ties to the legendary racer with the white, black, and red color combo. And we love the fact that the Audi RS6 Avant was chosen as the car to celebrate 40 years of Quattro greatness.

All Out Race Car

This isn't just a pretty show car, however. As you can see, the RS6 GTO is a full-on race car ready to hit the track. The interior has been stripped down to the bare essentials. Racing bucket seats and a roll cage have been fitted. But the steering wheel and the dashboard still remain.

Retro/Modern

The awesome wheel design is a beautiful reinterpretation of the '80s IMSA racer, and they add a ton of retro/modern character to the RS6. And of course, the side-exist exhaust pipes are a nod back to the 90 Quattro GTO as well.

Lucky Concept

Interestingly, the idea for this concept car came from Audi factory trainees in Neckarsulm, just North of Stuttgart. If you ask us, Audi should take this concept one step further and manufacture the RS6 GTO as a track-only limited production model. What do you think of the concept?
