The R8 is Sadly Still One of the Most Underrated Supercars

Easy to drive, super fast and Tony Stark’s weapon of choice. This really is one of the greatest supercars Audi has ever made.

Supreme Balance

Balance is a big talking point in the sports car community. How well something turns in, holds a line and exits off the corner are all parts to what creates the supercar experience. R8s tend to do this better than anyone as everyone who has driven one will tell you. Sliding over the limit can be controlled with one finger with a precision that isn’t found in many other flagships.

Engine Choices

As one of the last cars to hang onto the V10 philosophy of building a supercar, Audi has made a statement with the R8 V10 that appeals to anyone with a heartbeat. As other companies push towards twin turbos small-displacement supercars the R8 took a last stand by shoving V8s and V10s into their supercar with no turbos. It’s a slap in the face to the current status quo.

Everyday Usability

A brilliant feature of the R8 is the ability to use it daily. When all is said and done, this is still an Audi and it drives just like a normal car when conditions are slow. Ramp things up, however, and the driving experience is enough to land you in a jail cell in seconds. This car is everything you want in a daily married to everything you want in a weekend racer.

Understatement of the Century

In rush hour traffic the R8 lurks about like an anonymous spy that just threw on a hoodie to avoid detection from authorities. For how fast these cars are they fly under the radar more than any other supercar out there. You can really be “under the radar” in one of these while having a blast behind the wheel. Lamborghini or Ferrari? Instant cop magnet.

25 mpg Highway

Okay, admittedly this is an odd bullet point for why a supercar is great. What does gas mileage have to do with anything? Well for one, it’s annoying in a car like this to have to stop every 20 minutes. Seriously. Supercars that get horrible gas mileage are a pain due to the stop and go nature of filling up on a Sunday drive. That’s where the R8 has an ace up its sleeve. This car actually gets great gas mileage if you drive it like a normal car.

Everything To Love

There isn’t a single flaw with the R8. Some might criticize that it looks a bit bland for a car of its price tag, but that’s missing the point. The R8 is a world-beater that can be a daily driver when you need it and a supercar when you want it. It’s absolute perfection and I couldn’t think of a better car for the money.
