Part scooter part skateboard

This new mobility device from Audi weighs 26 pounds, can fold up for easier storage, and provides a range of 12.5 mikes with a top speed of12.5 mph. The e-tron Scooter has a deck like a skateboard but a handle with an electric scooter that is designed to be held by one hand and stood on sideways. Even the wheels on the Scooter are closer to the trucks on a skateboard than those typical ones you'd find on a scooter.

Find a hill and gain some range

Staying true to the e-tron roots of the automaker the Scooter has brake regeneration capabilities to gain more range and the electric motor onboard can be adjusted by a tweak on the handlebar grip. Just like a skateboard, when it comes time to take a turn just shift your weight and lean into it.

Surfing in the city

Audi states in their press release that "The Audi e-tron Scooter, combining the advantages of the electric scooter and the skateboard, is designed for sporty riders. To be transported by car, bus, or train, the 12-kg (26-pound) e-scooter can be folded up and conveniently stored in the back of the car, or if preferred, pulled like a trolley. Above all, the Audi e-tron Scooter stands out, thanks to its handling, which is like surfing waves."

For the sake of safety

For the sake of visibility, there is a headlight, a daytime running light, a rear light, and a brake light. What there isn't is a turn signal. We're guessing the fact that the one hand you'll have free can be used to throw up some old school hand signals so others know your directional intentions. A Bluetooth interface will allow for riders to make individual adjustments to not only the ride quality but also to protect the Scooter against theft.

Would any of you buy this?

“Of course, the e-tron Scooter also moves straight ahead. But the feeling of flow only comes when you start carving on asphalt – and that is surprisingly easy with our new concept,” explains says Thorsten Schrader, project manager for micro-mobility at Audi. “With the e-tron scooter we appeal to customers who are on the move in cities, sustainably and multi-modally – and for whom style and functionality are important.”

When the e-tron Scooter goes on sale at the end of 2020, the cost will be around $2,200 or 2,000 euros.
