Meet the 1956 DKW Monza

The classic 1950's curvy design of the DKW Monza helped this Audi set five world records in one day back in 1956.  The body of the vehicle was one of the first to design an extremely lightweight (in comparison) polyester body with a fiberglass coating.

It probably isn't the top rated in safety with a polyester body build, but if you're looking for solid, sexy Audi history, the 1956 DKW Monza is one for the record books.  The only downside of this model is that it is becoming extremely difficult to find.

Audi Enthusiasts Love the Quattro Models 1980-1991

Audi set an identity marker for their brand with the Quattros of the 80's.  Audi lovers still love the turbocharged engines, all-wheel drive, and boxy (yet sporty) body style of the Quattro.  The design of this classic was modeled after a Group B rally car, and the influences show.

With a memorable, strong look, dependability, and technology superseding that of the 1980's, the early Quattro models were (and still are) a huge hit with buyers.  Unlike some of the older Audi models, the early Quattro models are still actively being bought and sold amongst private buyers.

Remember the 1992 RS2 Avant?

Audi designed the RS2 Avant to be family-friendly and fast at the same time.  As a result, the Avant is still one of the favorites among Audi enthusiasts worldwide.  The all-wheel-drive hatch wagon design can go zero to 60 in just under five seconds.  As a point of reference, that is faster than some sports cars produced now.

The RS2 was only made available to buyers in Europe, South Africa, Brazil, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.  If you can find one available today, you should expect to fork over a pretty penny.  The best price you might find won't be less than $15,000.

Enjoy the Practicality and Speed of the Audi R8

The release of the R8 Le Mans Prototype sparked a desire from Audi lovers for the company to create a road-going version of the vehicle.  The look of the Audi R8 alone could entice buyers, but there's much more to this vehicle than aesthetic beauty.  The R8 offers daily drivability, speed, comfort, and superior performance.

Be ready to invest in this purchase, though.  Buying an Audi R8 will cost at least $60,000.  The newest R8 models cost well over $150,000 fully loaded.

Audi's V8 Model Set the Standard

The model that really gave Audi its reputation for luxury was the V8.  As the title suggests, it was designed with a hearty V8 engine for power to spare.  The car, itself, has a following of its own.

Audi released the V8 from 1988 to 1993.  Soon after, the Audi V8 was replaced by the A8.  Audi lovers in North America had to wait to purchase the vehicle until two years later.  In 1996, the legend of the V8 was sealed in the U.S.
