Vortrag Motorsports to Campaign in Speedvision World Challenge GT and Touring

Warren, MI - Vortrag Motorsports will campaign an Audi S4 quattro entry in GT and two Audi A4 quattros in Touring, for the 2001 season. Team owner, Todd Candey, confirms that Joe Blacker will pilot the Vortrag Motorsports/QSC Audio/Media Deployment Systems Audi S4 quattro in GT and teammates Rob Hines and Paul Lambert will run Audi A4 quattros in Touring.

After years of racing and winning championships in Formula and sports racers, Joe Blacker, President of Audio Associates, will make his bid for podium success in Speedvision World Challenge GT. Joe has spent many hours racing in Porsches and Ferraris but will embark on a new path, racing an Audi S4 quattro. "I feel the new S4 quattro with the Motec M8 system on board will make a competitive package." He continues, "Vortrag Motorsports has years of experience in Audi tuning and with the knowledge I have gained from working with Formula cars and from Steve Cole of Cole Performance, we should be able to go quick, out of the box."

In Touring, Rob Hines moves into Speedvision World Challenge after successful runs in SCCA Nationals and Motorola Cup in 2000 and winning the SCCA T2 National Championship in 1999. Rob, who will be driving the TeleStrategies/Vortrag Motorsports Audi A4 quattro comments, "I am excited about joining forces with TeleStrategies and Vortrag Motorsports for the upcoming year because I believe that the team has all of the elements to field a competitive effort in the Speedvision World Challenge Touring series. For me, Speedvision World Challenge is the next step in my racing career and by producing solid, consistent results in each race, I hope to be in contention for Rookie of the Year and possibly even the Championship itself."

Driver Paul Lambert, who will run the Vortrag Motorsports/Competition Engineering Services [CES] Audi A4 quattro in Touring, also comes from a very successful amateur racing history. Most recently, Paul fielded a BMW M3 in SCCA Nationals - T2, where he placed 2nd in the 2000 SCCA Northern Pacific Division Championship and in the same year, won the driver & team championship in the NASA Endurance/ESR series, running a Renault Spec Racer. Paul also won the Season Championship in the NASA National/RSR series in 1998 with a record 15 wins and currently holds track records at 4 West coast tracks. "I am very pleased to be a part of the Vortrag Motorsports team for 2001. I feel that Vortrag has assembled an excellent team which is up to the challenge of taking on the Speedvision World Challenge series." Says Lambert, "This year will be full of potential. I am anxious to get started working with Rob and the rest of the team, as we focus on our goal of winning races and contending for the championship."
