Galati Wins Sebring
Sebring, Florida, Michael Galati, driving the number one Champion Audi/Audi S4 Competition, started from pole for today’s World Challenge Speed GT race and never was challenged for the win. Galati was able to get a great launch at the start of race to keep the field behind him. The Audi S4 Competition with quattro has maintained its reputation for providing excellent grip for fast starts. “I was able to get a good start and the accident behind me also helped,” said Galati. “I was pushing the whole race as I knew that Cunningham was quickly catching up. I had a slight problem with the brakes locking up, but a win at Sebring is great way to start the new season.” Teammate Derek Bell, driving the number 8 Legends of Motorsport/Audi S4, was busy avoiding a big first turn crash sending him nearly up against the fence and through the grass to return to the track. “The start was pretty hairy,” said Bell. “The rest of the race was spent battling with a Porsche, I could get up next to him under braking, but never could get past.” Bell managed to finish a strong seventh. “Michael’s victory is a nice start to the season. The Champion team deserves a lot of credit for their off season effort in improving the car which was evident with the track record in qualifying,” said Rod Bymaster, manager Audi Sport North America. “Derek did a great job to avoid the first turn crash and ran consistently to bring it home in the top ten.” Speed GT Results: 1.
