this August - The ALMS Race at Road America
The American LeMans Series is a year-long series of endurance races at tracks from California to Georgia and one of their stops will be at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, on August 19-22, 2004. Road America is a scenic, four-mile course with plenty of room for spectators to walk or drive to view the race from any of the 14 corners. You can bring the whole family - kids are always welcome - and cook out or eat at one of the many food concessions. Since the ALMS race is long and loud, we recommend that you bring ear plugs and especially ear protection for children.
The Audi Badger Chapter will once again provide a Hospitality Tent on the outside of Corner 14 located between entrance gates 1 and 2. Follow the signs to the Audi Corral. We invite Audi enthusiasts from all chapters of the Audi Club of North America to use the tent as a `base camp.' We will feature free water, snacks, a viewing area, bathroom facilities, parking, and tables and chairs in a beautiful 30x60 tent on Saturday and Sunday.
Last year we had the pleasure of meeting R8 drivers Frank Biela and Marco Werner who stopped in for an autograph and picture taking session. We will hold another `meet the pro's' session this year, so bring your memorabilia to be autographed and don't forget your camera!
Randy Pobst and Michael Galati will be racing RS6's in the Speed GT Series; Paul Lambert, in his A4, will be racing in the Speed Touring Series; and Marco Werner and
J.J. Lehto will be driving the ADT-R8 in the ALMS race. Randy, Michael, and Paul are good friends of the Audi Club and will likely come to the Hospitality Tent to meet you, sign autographs, and pose with you for pictures. Last year, Paul even brought his car to our parking area for awesome photo ops.
