Audi Sport Receives SEMA Motorsports Engineering Award for the Success of the Audi R8
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Audi of America, Inc. announced today that SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) in conjunction with SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) has presented the SEMA Motorsports Engineering Award to Audi Sport and Robert Bosch for the success of the Audi R8 and its direct injection fuel delivery system, FSI, in international competition. This award recognizes special achievement in the transfer of technology from high performance to international racing. The Audi R8 has made its reputation in international motorsports by scoring 52 victories in the 62 races in which it has competed. Likewise FSI technology has been present in the winning 24 Hours of Le Mans entry for the last four consecutive years. The transfer of this high performance technology that can deliver both higher power and greater fuel efficiency is now complete with the arrival of the new A6 in Audi showrooms in North America with its 3.2 FSI V6 engine. Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, Director of Audi Sport, accepted the award on behalf of Audi and Audi Sport on Wednesday night, December 1 at the SAE Motorsports Engineering Conference Banquet held in Dearborn, Michigan. |
