Torrance, California USA – Still reeling from the excitement of last week’s dominating sweep of the SPEED World Challenge races at Infineon, StopTech has this week hit yet another major milestone: StopTech-equipped cars and drivers scored wins in three of North America’s most prestigious and high-profile race series, all in the same weekend.

StopTech cars claimed the pole and the win in SPEED World Challenge Touring Car at Portland International Raceway, a win in SPEED World Challenge GT, (also at Portland), and a win in Grand-Am Cup at Alabama’s Barber Motorsports Park. These important victories were earned by three different car makes, three different teams, three different drivers, racing on two different tracks; thus continuing to illustrate the broad advantage of teams equipped with StopTech’s brake technologies.

SPEED World Challenge Touring Car, Portland: Flag-to-flag win for Randy Pobst and Tri-Point Mazda 6

Picking up where he left off after last week’s Infineon pole-to-podium effort, Randy Pobst (Gainesville, GA) again grabbed the pole at PIR and dominated the race flag-to-flag, for his 11th career SPEED World Challenge victory in the No. 73 Tri-Point Mazda 6. “The track was much slower than in qualifying, with far less grip. The brakes really helped us get it done”, he comments. The win brings Mazda to within 2 points of the series championship lead. Another StopTech-equipped driver, Matt “Mad Dog” Richmond, (Mooresville, NC), also earned a podium finish with a fine performance in the No. 37 BimmerWorld BMW 325i. His third place is a new career-best. Richmond also turned the UrbanRacer.com Hot Lap of the Race. Richmond’s BimmerWorld teammate Seth Thomas earned his third-consecutive Sunoco Hard Charger Award for advancing 8 positions during the race; The B&M Holeshot Award went to the StopTech-equipped #93 Dodge SRT-4 of rookie Rick Snyder, who advanced seven positions on lap one.

SPEED World Challenge GT, Portland: Victory for Dino Crescentini in his first-ever GT outing, (driving Lou Gigliotti’s C6 Corvette!)

It’s the second consecutive SPEED GT win for the StopTech-equipped No. 28 LG Pro Long Tube Header Chevrolet Corvette C6, but this week, it was a different pilot: Californian Dino Crescentini has earned his first SPEED GT victory, in his first-ever GT outing. Crescentini, a SPEED Touring Car regular who also finished 6th in the earlier Touring Car race, had temporarily taken over driving duties for the weekend from Lou Gigliotti, the car’s driver/owner, (and winner last week at Infineon). Making the most of the great opportunity, Crescentini started cautiously in an effort to preserve Gigliotti’s car. Late in the race, finding himself in second position and out-pacing the race leader, Crescentini struck decisively with a hard braking maneuver into the chicane, overtaking the Porsche of Wolf Henzler for the lead, and securing his first GT win. Dino, elated, commented, “I just came here to have fun this weekend. The car was available so I thought I’d give it a shot. I knew it was a good car having seen the win at Sears Point. I just didn’t realize how good. The car is setup so well. The brakes are incredible. Going into the chicane, I knew I could count on the StopTechs to make that pass”.

Grand-Am Cup 200, Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham Alabama: A win for the UniTech Racing Nissan 350Z

The StopTech-equipped No. 13 UniTech Racing Nissan 350Z of Blake Rosser and David Murray took a hard-fought victory in this weekend’s Grand-Am Cup 200 at Barber Motorsports Park, after qualifying 5th on the grid. In a contact-filled battle at the well-liked Barber track, Rosser and Murray held third early in the race, before taking the late-race lead and ultimately the win, over the Turner Motorsport BMW M3, and the MultiMatic Motorsports Mustang GT. The win is the first of the year for Rosser/Murray, topping their previous best of 5th.

The staff of StopTech wishes to congratulate each of these competitors on their outstanding performances.
