Audi was able to announce another record-breaking month for vehicle sales in August 2005. Over 59,100 new cars (August 2004: 49,876) were handed over to customers worldwide. This is equivalent to an increase of 18.5 percent compared with the same month last year.

The number of vehicles sold worldwide in the first eight months rose by 11.1 percent compared with the same period one year previously, to around 554,000 vehicles (January to August 2004: 498,833).

In Germany, vehicle sales in August increased by 18.7 percent compared with the same month of last year, to around 17,900 vehicles. This gives a cumulative total for Germany of 166,700 vehicles – an increase of 14.2 percent compared with January to August 2004.

“Growth is taking place on all fronts – this is proved by the fact that we were able to achieve historic new sales records in 35 markets worldwide,” commented Ralph Weyler, Board Member for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG. “We expect that the presentation of the Audi Q7 and the new Audi Cabriolet at the Frankfurt Motor Show will help to boost our sales further. We therefore have our sights firmly set upon our target for 2005: we want to sell a total of more than 800,000 cars worldwide this year for the first time.”
