  • More than 80,000 participants around the globe
  • Eight amateur golfers represent the German colours
  • Golf star Bernhard Langer is prominent guest in Arizona

The Audi quattro Cup is the world’s biggest and most popular amateur tournament series. Now the countdown to the big showdown of the golf series staged around the globe has started: from 30 October to 3 November the world finals will take place in Arizona (USA). One of the most prominent guests will be Bernhard Langer. The German has claimed his place in the golfing “hall of fame” already. Last year, he led the Ryder Cup team as captain to its sensational – and so far greatest – victory against the USA.

The Audi quattro Cup has been sponsored since 1991, being staged as a “foursome with selection drive”. Each team consists of two golfers who take turns playing the ball after the tee-off. In Germany alone over 140 qualification tournaments with a total of 14,000 participants were held. The final decision as to who will be able to go to Arizona was made in the German finale at the golf resort “Land Fleesensee”. A total of eight amateur golfers are now going to represent the German colours against their international competition.

Around the world the Audi quattro Cup has long established its firm place on the calendar of golfing events. This year, more than 80,000 amateur golfers took part in the roughly 700 tournaments in 40 countries. The golfers’ incentive for making it into the finals was great: the Audi quattro Cup world finale will be staged at the “Four Seasons Resort at Troon North” hotel at the Troon North golf course – one of the most prestigious venues in international golf.
