  • The Audi factory driver contests three series in two years
  • 7 days until the start of the 2006 DTM

Timo Scheider is merely 27 years old – yet in his career the young professional driver has proved that he is at home in virtually every discipline of motor racing. As such, the young native of Lahnstein, Germany, not only brings half a decade of DTM experience to his new employer, Audi. In Formula racing, in touring cars based on production vehicles and in international GT sport, the German living in Austria has celebrated victories as well. In 2005 and 2006 alone Scheider has been contesting three series in merely two years.

In 2005, in the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring, Scheider clinched class victory in a compact car based on a production vehicle. In the 2005 FIA GT Championship, following his triumph in the 24 Hours of Spa, he fought for the title up to the finale and ultimately finished as the runner-up. Alongside these stints he represented the colours of A1 Team Germany in seven of eleven races in the A1 Grand Prix Series, which just ended at Shanghai. And for the 2006 season he will be contesting the DTM for Audi Sport Team Rosberg. “This is an intensive programme but one that includes lots of variety as well and, above all, results in plenty of practical driving experience,” says Scheider, expressing his pleasure about the two years which have been the most intensive in his career thus far. In November 2005, he even solved the task of contesting two races which were 5,500 kilometres apart from each other, Dubai and Malaysia, on a single weekend. But that is not all: In his free time, the motion talent proves that he has an aptitude for handling two-wheeled vehicles as well since one of the hobbies the young father of a family has been pursuing for years is riding Supermotos.
