Audi A1 Team is German Sailing Champion

The new Audi project “A dream comes true” has truly had a dream start at the Kieler Woche. The Audi A1 team clinched the German Championship title of ocean sailors in the ORC I class of the big yachts. The special part about this success: the crew around skipper Tim Kröger consists of only six experienced sailors who were supported by nine Audi customers.
The reinforcements for Tim Kröger, who ranks among the most successful German sailors, and his experienced colleagues consisted of Audi customers. They had previously been selected by the West and North regions and not only took part in their first sailing competition during the Kieler Woche under the motto “A dream comes true,” but will leave the event as brand new German Champions.” Their boat of the TP52 class, the boat class which also contests the Audi MedCup, was unbeatable during the races.

“An outstanding achievement,” enthused Tim Kröger. “Although our guests were not totally inexperienced on water nobody had dared to dream of such a success. Congratulations to the whole crew but also to Audi for having the courage to realize this idea.” By the way: Kröger has clinched exploits in the America’s Cup or the Audi MedCup and other titles in his sailing career but has never before won a German Championship.
