Car wont warm up completely after new water pump, etc.
 

I replaced my water pump (fun) and after about 2 weeks, it will warm, but the coolant guages never read HOT and the heat is just warm.

This worked fine for about 2 weeks.

My only other deviation is that I also did just add a can of fuel injection cleaner a few days ago on a full tank of gas.

Could that be messing with something emissions-related that is causing it to stay cool?

P.S., my 99 A4 1.8T Qtip is the biggest piece of crap known to man.

At 59K miles:

1) Rear wheel bearing
2) Dry rotted radiator hoses,
3) Broken dipstick
4) water pump failure
5) MAF sensor bad
6) Replaced timing belt.

Roughly $3G's worth of repairs on a $10K car with less than 60K on it. Woo hoo.

A Hyundai would hold up better.

My dealer really seems to like me, though.

Must be air in the coolant system. Bleed it?

did you change the thermostat also??..put a new one in??...-->
 

I changed my waterpump/thermostat and fan switch all at once, makes great heat. Did you bleed the coolant system after you re-filled it???

I did not bleed it.

The how-to I was following did not suggest.

I do have a service manual, though. I will look that up.

Mine was doing the same after I changed everything. Make sure you bleed it and then it'll be good.

$3,000 of repairs on a $10,000 car is extreme, you are right. Especially with less than 60,000 miles! That's insane.

Uh, I would not call your car crap based on what you list...
 

Age much more than mileage is the determining factor.

How did the dipstick break? I doubt it broke on it's own. Wheel bearings do fail, not remotely unheard of. When did the water pump let go? The MAF? also common. Do you have a K&N filter?

You paid 10k, or it's worth 10k?

it be straight up in the middle?

if the water pump created more problems to the engine
 

thats the only thing i can think of. or he's paying outrageous amounts of money for the work
