Stealerships strike again...oil pan issues
So, I bottomed out over the weekend, and cracked my oil pan on the A4 1.8t. The drip is every 5-10 seconds, right near the area where the drain plug is.
Living in Michigan for a year, 1 month to go before I get back to NJ to my comfort zone with my mechanic. Leak needs to be repaired, part is 200 in change (from my research). Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to do an oil pan replacement? Whats the audi factory recommended time for repair. The dealer is telling me somewhere between 900 and 1300! I was floored! Although, after doing a search and looking how involved it is to get to the bolts...maybe its reasonable (BLASPHEMY!) Thanks |

Depends on what engine you have. I have a couple of 30v pans for sale.

I can't believe that I've never cracked an oil pan from numerous bottoming out, I got a bunch of chassis dents underneath though...

Labor on a 1.8t oil pan is very extensive. It removes lowering the front sub frame to get it out. Took me a full day to do it myself on the floor with jack stands. You will also more then likely need a front end alignment when you are done. Since I had the car apart I went ahead and did the timing belt again even though I did it 40k ago.

4driver4: What thread view are you using? Hybrid? Asking because your questioning who's responding to who is odd, but it makes sense to me in linear mode.
EDIT: just took a look. You must be using threaded. No wonder so many peeps cant hate it when theres no title or they just click reply when in linear mode and others are using threaded. I myself cant stand threaded mode as I hate having to click through everything. |
