THANKS AUDI! 4 (FOUR) bent 'celebration' wheels

The dealer had my car running while up in the air and I was SHOCKED at how bad the wheels were. They were wobbling so badly it's a wonder the car even drives.

Now I need to spend at least a grand on rims because these OEM pieces of **** are soft as butter and can't take regular roads and daily driving.

Nice friggin wheel choice Audi.

I know plenty here that have had similar experiences with the OEM celebrations, the class action law suit in Europe over the similarly designed butter soft RS4 wheels, A friends father with bent S8 wheels (also similar design). Blah.

On a lighter note, I get a nice massage every time I drive from the ****ty wheels.

paul_858 04-08-2003 10:06 AM

contact AoA and complain but nicely.

then give up and scream at the rep and buy silver super l's

mdwsta4™uroslut 04-08-2003 10:12 AM

*high five!* mike, and anyone else that has bent celebs, read this...

call AoA at 800-822-2834, option 3.
speak to a service rep
make sure you have an RO (repair order) from your dealer stating how many wheels are bent
refer to reference # 30102928 (my case # currently)
and email me with your case #

hopefully if we can actually get a decent number of people together it will be a lot easier to get this resolved vs everyone doing it themselves.

[ej257] 04-08-2003 10:16 AM

no silver SL's, I'm just going to buy 40lb stealies that wont bend

Greyhound Guy 04-08-2003 10:17 AM

how badly are they bent. My non eom wheels got bent too.

My recommendation is to go to a place that has this balance machine, http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/balancer/Balancer.htm. If it cant fix your problem then you need to get your rims fixed or replaced.

[ej257] 04-08-2003 10:18 AM

wishful thinking George. These were wobbling so bad while on the lift I didn't want to drive home

on them.

They are nothing but dead weight at this point.

92gli 04-08-2003 10:18 AM

ronal makes butter wheels for audi !

[ej257] 04-08-2003 10:20 AM

regular parkways and a small suburban town's roads

plenty of minor potholes and junk, but the wheels are so soft that it doesn't take much effort.

Zatoichi 04-08-2003 10:21 AM

They'll probably blame it on an aftermarket air filter

[ej257] 04-08-2003 10:22 AM

:)

markbradford 04-08-2003 10:23 AM

DOES THIS MEAN RONAL WHEELS ARE OFFICIALLY COMPLETE CRAP???

GARY???

WHERE ARE YOU???

[ej257] 04-08-2003 10:23 AM

bah, dealer is 50 miles away...not going back...maybe if I call them up

the Service advisor will definitley remember so it should be fine.

Mirror|rorriM 04-08-2003 10:24 AM

Not all Audi wheels are made by Ronal

mdwsta4™uroslut 04-08-2003 10:27 AM

you HAVE to have a statement from the dealer for AoA

[ej257] 04-08-2003 10:28 AM

How about if they doa repair order and just give me the info to tell AoA

ex-quattro PETE 04-08-2003 10:29 AM

If Ronal made these, they'd weigh 30 lbs but at least be stronger.

ex-quattro PETE 04-08-2003 10:29 AM

don't think they're made by Ronal because they're so light.

mdwsta4™uroslut 04-08-2003 10:37 AM

well either way you/the dealer/both will need to fax documentation

to AoA. try calling audi, then having them get in contact with the dealer. just make sure the dealer knows what they're calling about when they do.

zairegp 04-08-2003 10:38 AM

Re: regular parkways and a small suburban town's roads

I just had 3 wheels replaced due to the crappy Merrit Parkway in CT. No problems for 18 months and then within 2 weeks all 3 bent...

mdwsta4™uroslut 04-08-2003 10:41 AM

celebs? please do what i posted above.

mdwsta4™uroslut 04-08-2003 10:41 AM

yup.

SameerP 04-08-2003 10:46 AM

Get some 17" OZ SLs...strong and light.

[ej257] 04-08-2003 10:48 AM

just how strong are they? Weight is not a factor as long as they are under 30lbs

not bending ever is primary.

TristanP 04-08-2003 10:59 AM

17" Celebration wheels are made by Speedline

Blake(w/ 16g) 04-08-2003 11:00 AM

i agree with sameerP ,the OZ's are light and durable.

good choice...

RKA 04-08-2003 11:01 AM

They aren't up to the challenge of mystery DSM's, but short of that...

I've yet to see one horribly damaged.

A4Snow nailed a pothole in NYC with an 18" wheel, but for some reason he thinks that same pothole would have turned a factory 15" wheel into a coffee table coaster.

Here's Mark's 17" SL after a mystery DSM had his way with him...

EE:OutofBounds 04-08-2003 11:06 AM

yes...18" OZ SL's in NYC have help up in city driving AND winter driving...17's

would be definitely hold up super ;-)

markbradford 04-08-2003 11:09 AM

The actual point of impact was a roadside concrete barrier wall./

Would have stood up to the other car methinks! =)

mdwsta4™uroslut 04-08-2003 11:09 AM

bwahahaha!!!!!!!! i was going to post a pic of that too!

ex-quattro PETE 04-08-2003 11:11 AM

bah... nothing a few balancing weights won't fix :-)

markbradford 04-08-2003 11:14 AM

Yup it buffed right out

see!

spikeital 04-08-2003 11:18 AM

I have had no problems with my RS4 Style rims.

At least not to my naked eye. Car drives as perfect as it did the first day I got it. Only complant I have is that taking it to the car wash sucks because the rims will rub on the rails of the track at the car wash.

BLKPERL 04-08-2003 11:25 AM

That sucks dude...time for a new set of shoes???

[ej257] 04-08-2003 11:47 AM

Sprain/Taconic pkwy, and Saw Mill took out my wheels(NY)

[ej257] 04-08-2003 11:47 AM

Definitley

RKA 04-08-2003 12:00 PM

Heh, and those are the "good roads" in NYC!

mzancz 04-08-2003 12:08 PM

Could it be your tires????

Not to sound dumb, but I too have these wheels. I live in NJ, and travel on the parkway, and other back roads and have not had any problem with bent rims yet. I do however have the stock P6000 tires that it came with. Does this make any sense. Do you guys have on a lower profile tire, or have you lowered your suspension?

CMC 04-08-2003 12:09 PM

BBS!

Hehe, both sets of my wheels have taken harsh punishment in Ghetto-a$$ St. Louis roads.

Oh yeah... and running higher tire pressures help keep lighten the load off your wheels too.

Sameer, just saw pics of the FMIC... BERRY BERRY NICE!!!

ex-quattro PETE 04-08-2003 12:13 PM

next time you have the rims off the car - have your tire guy look at them - you may be up for a..

surprise as well.

BTW, I've seen these rims bent with all kinds of different tires and suspensions (including the OEM sport suspension), so I don't think it matters.

Silver Streakin' 04-08-2003 12:22 PM

WTF are you guys doing? I hope my S03s save mine :-/
