Hi guys,

Hoping someone has a good ear!....

The below changed as engine was just f***ed

Timing chain, all guides and tensionors changed
Water pump changed
cam shaft bridge changed (Old screen found intact in oil sump filter so it hasn't caused any damage)
both intake and outlet cams changed
valves re-seated
Referbed block with new rings and existing pistons (were in good condition)
Recently had a new PVC valve (around a year ago)
The little thing that goes into the camshaft bridge and the inlet cam (I forget what its called)
Standard new seals and gaskets

Is my engine dead?!

Please upload the video to Youtube. The video also appears sped up, so it's impossible to hear and see anything of value.

Hey Jlbell,

It is clearly having a misfire, you would need to scan the car and get the codes to help narrow it down further. As for the high pitched noise, it honestly sounds like a vacuum leak, which can also cause a misfire, IIRC on these engines.

Just thought i'd provide an update for anyone facing the same issue

It was the crankshaft rattling around as the thrust bearing had completely been shaved away

New block finally in, going to try today!
