I bet there's all kinds of ruckus over on the BMW boards...

For those who are all high-and-mighty over the 6-cylinder, this ought to be good.

bmw needs a new angle to sell cars...mpg is what it comes down to. The performance vs. cost has them reelingin the wake of the S4 value. The new competitor will be Toyota with mpg.

Oooooof!

BMW already sells on mpg, have you seen those ads where they boast about having the most fuel efficient luxury line?

There's nothing wrong with a 4-cyl as long as it's smooth. And coming from an Acura TSX I can tell you Audi's 2.0T is NOT smooth, I would think it's some kind of diesel if I didn't know what car I'm sitting in.

That's why I'm a fan of the much-maligned 3.2. It is most definitely smooth. :)

Ahh but it is awesome with a manual gear box. Drive a TDI Q7 sometime smooth and torquey. I'm pretty fond of them already.

I think the 2.0T is awesome with the 6MT! :) I'm a little bias, I like feeling the road and the engine. Not a fan of the "couch smooth"

Indeed. When you punch the gas at high RPM, you want to feel it! :D

X2

I have no regrets about waiting to get a manual. Well worth the wait (and saving a grand didn't hurt either).

I guess this is showing my age. It was just a few years ago when the two 3-series offerings typically consisted of a 4-banger and I-6. It is only in the last few years that the two choices have been 6-cylinder engines.
