I have no idea but what I posted about is not messing around with the MMI software. This is an app that installs on your phone and then Android Auto recognizes it and it shows up as an option on your MMI.

Instead of Android Auto, I wish we could just simply mirror the whole screen on the MMI display, Android Auto is way too restrictive. I get that they don't want people messing with screens and menus while driving, and I agree, but at least while the car is parked or not moving, we should have full access.

It's difficult to mirror the screen, it has been done on a A3 but the resolution of the picture isn't that clear Phone AV Mirroring to MMI | Audi-Sport.net
