Back-Up Sensor
My sensor has been acting up for 6 months, but of course the dealer could never find anything. Now, when I put it in R it goes off when nothing is there. I have cleaned the bumper many times. nothing.
Can it be fixed or reset or shut off? Thanks, Drew |
A VAG-COM might work to manually disable the functionality
or there have to be wires leading to the sensors if you can get to them under the bumper.

You can adjust the volume of the backup sensors...
My guess, you can lower it to the lowest volume setting, and maybe only the dog across the street will hear it.
Mine has been acting up as well. Worked just fine yesterday (parallel parked couple of times, and it REALLY helped), but this AM, constant tone with nothing there. |
Re: Back-Up Sensor
I dont see a vol setting.
|
The volume settings are via the VAG COM cable...
if you do not have access to a VAG COM, check Stoney's Links under VAG COM for a list of folks near you.
|
Use the VAG-COM to read fault-codes in the Parktronic control module.
It will tell you which sensor is bad. Then just replace it, it's pretty simple.
|
mine gives intermittent constant tone, but no VAG COM error code
|
Hmm
I faced a similar problem on a 2002 A6 and it told me exactly which sensor to replace. I guess it's not 100% certain there will be a fault code, but it's worth checking.

Will Scantool EML work?
Can Scantool/ELM be used to read the fault codes for the backup sensor?
|
you've got a bad wire on one of the sensors. Happened to me when I was....
rear ended. Tried to re-use some of the sensors but was getting the constant tone in reverse. Found one of the sensors had the insulation coming off of one of the wires. Replaced it and it was good as new.
