In the middle of timing belt--quick question
Where is the plug for the crank lock pin tool? I have the Blau kit, and am reading their description, and I see the drawing in Bentley, but it has no context--where is this thing??? Probably doesn't help that it's a oily mess down there--cam & adjuster seals are part of this job too.
Dimensions to "landmarks" and depth into the engine greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
on the driver side of the lower block to the rear of the oil filter housing just ahead of the clutch or trans housing. If you have a 2.7, you will have to loosen a turbo pipe to reach it. You'll see a 10mm(I think) bolt fastening the plug to the hole.

Oh, thank you! Perfect--found it. I have a 2.7t, and I did remove the pipe to get a little room in there. Hardly a "service" location.
Now we know what the next assignment was for the so-called engineer who put the failure-prone auxillary coolant pump under the intake manifold. But I was looking further forward, and wouldn't have found it without the held, Bentley notwithstanding. Thanks again! |
