Wierd radio problem solved...
When I got in the A6 in the morning, the radio was in limbo mode. (radio wouldn't turn on, radio wouldn't turn off, radio cluster lights stayed on with a blank screen).
Opened fuse access, pulled fuse 37, fuse was okay - so put fuse back. Wala... radio worked fine. It didn't even trigger safe mode. So... what do y'all think? Common issue? If it happens again, how much (typical cost) to replace a radio? I suppose I could source a 3rd party radio. Or, maybe the battery (??)... just too wierd. |
Sounds like your "reboot" took care of it...
...Pulling the fuse seems to have solved the problem this time, but maybe a VAG COM might give you some hints about what might have happened.

Re: Wow, this is so wierd, I had this exact thing happen to me this past Friday
on the way home from work. I did the same thing, and voila, it worked, with no safe mode. I tried turning it on/off a number of times, nothing, start/stopped the car, it stayed "lit up" lights, but no display. strange. Pulled the fuse and put it back in. works fine now, and no safe mode.

yeah... I know. No code. BUT.....
I did smell smoething when I opened the fuse
access. I was afraid that I might have an arcing issue. A799, no code, no fault, and no issue at the time other than the blank "on" radio that wouldn't turn off. If it happens again, I think I'll take it to the dealer and have them look for a code while it's "on" before I do anything else. It's the only electrical issue that I've ever had, other than a blinker deallybob replacement. |
Be carefull what you say...*knock on wood*
""It's the only electrical issue that I've ever had, other than a blinker deallybob replacement.""
You just might get more than what you bargain for ;-) |
