DIY for center console removal?

Anyone have one or a video? The previous owner of my car obviously spilt something on the MMI controls and I would like to go in and clean em up but can not for the life of me find a DIY on removing it or even a video.

Roy,
Where you getting the pics from? I got OnDemand5, ETKA and ELSA but it all seems so confusing to operate them but in your case it's always srtaight to the point.

A6Gary 08-30-2012 09:11 PM

I replaced my center console wood trim section, which requires complete removal of the center console section, including the MMI control unit. If you STFAs, you would have found a very good write–up (pics don't show now, but are view taken from ETKA) of performing this R&R (I used it along with my Bentley Manual):

Weird....I did search the forum and came across your post but as you noted yourself. You have no pictures which makes your thread useless to me.

I use ElsaWin.
You do have to search around.
This item is got to by following,
Workshop repair guide - Body - general body repairs, interior - Centre console, front. or Centre console, rear.

gingles 08-31-2012 11:24 AM

I gave up. Got all the trim removed around the MMI controls but for the life of me cannot seem to pull the controls out. Is there a trick?

A6Gary 08-31-2012 09:07 PM

The MMI control unit is held in–place by screws on the backside, so you have to completely remove the wood trim to get to the small screws.
