Easy enough to check... Results

I did what you told me and and when I put the car on first gear with the clutch engaged it does not move and it does not start cranking speed ok. Also in neutral the car wont start. I thinking its something else.

While driving the car stalled... don't know if thats a hint? Help please!

I thought we were only dealing with the clutch problem...

to see if it was disengaging. As for not starting, well, all a car needs to run is spark, fuel, and compression. Compression will not have changed while sitting at a stop light, so rule that out. (although you could have broken a timing belt or crank shaft, but unlikely). Spark is easy enough to check, just pull a plug wire off, place it near the block and see if a spark jumps across the space (make it short). Fuel? Hell, I wouldn't even know how to check it, but somebody here will. sorry.
Best regards,
Jim

I think it nothing to do with the clutch - my guess is that it.....

is the cam position sensor.

This is in a small round housing on the back of the right hand cylinder head - looking at the engine from the front of the car.

These seem to fail as they get to 8 to 10 years old.

I managed to get one from a V8 and fit the circuit board into the housing off my engine but it is obviously easier if you can get the right one from a breakers yard.

Someone was selling an entire V6 with auto box - do a search, this was only earlier this week.

The symptoms of this failing are - the engine turns over with the starter but I don think you get a spark or the fuel pump running at all.

Car stalled --- Problem found but- how to fix?

I found that the idler pulley was broken so the belt was loose. This keeps the car from starting I suppose. So I bought a new idler pulley and change it BUT beafore that my brother pulled the timing belt out.... So now I don't know how to place the timing belt back. I know the crankshaft needs to be at TDC and camshaft with the holes aligned. But what if one of the camshafts moved??

I cannot remember what the marks are like, also, there are sometimes...

marks on the inside of the pulley as well as on the outside, in different places!

If you have to turn the cams, do it very gently and the same applies to the crank or you could bend valves, if there are none bent already?
